It is Necessary to take stock of Castles, Fortresses and Palaces, - M.Tomenko
On May 26-27, participants of the press tour together with the campaign initiator Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, visited Odesa region to assess 3 out of 11 nominees, namely, Vorontsov Palace, Akkerman Fortress in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, and Palace of Earl Pototskyi.
Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, informed that after the end of the campaign, the organizers are going to take stock of the monuments, not only to promote them and raise public awareness. He stressed that many other castles, palaces and fortresses alike, the monuments in Odesa region need capital investment for restoration.
As reported, the aim of the campaign "Seven Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Fortresses and Palaces" is to compile a map of castles and fortresses of Ukraine, analyse the current state of monuments, strengthen their cultural and historical significance, and involve them into the hotel and tourism infrastructure. The final goal of the campaign is to develop a comprehensive strategy of support, reconstruction and restoration of historical-architectural monuments at the expense of the State and local budgets, as well as private donations.
